There aren’t many things in life better than Boxing Day football. Whether you’re lugging yourself to the pub with a thick head or positioning yourself horizontally on the sofa, from noon to 10pm, every year, there’s nothing to concentrate on other than some lovely British football.
However, surely they could’ve found some better games for us to enjoy? Three days after Boxing Day on the 29th we have Liverpool vs Arsenal, but on the 26th the best game we have is Watford vs Chelsea. Not a bad game, but not a great one, in my humble opinion.
In terms of the other games on TV we have Fulham vs Wolves to kick us off from 12.30 live on Sky Sports. Both promoted sides started the season in very contrasting fashion, however now there’s a lot less to choose between the two sides. Not many of us thought that would be the case five games in.
Then at 14.00 it’s Aberdeen vs Celtic on BT Sport 1. I guess unless you’re Scottish you’re only going to be turning this one at kick off if either you have two TV’s, or Fulham or Wolves are blowing one of the other two sides away. I was going to say you might switch because it’s a shit game, but if you do that, you’ll massively regret turning over if something mad happens at Craven Cottage – so don’t do it!
After that, we have some Championship action at 15:00, back on Sky Sports, with two high-fliers facing off as Sheffield United take on Derby County. Both sides are promotion contenders and a win for either side will do them a world of good in arguably the most competitive league in the world.
Then again it’s back to the Premier League on Sky with Brighton facing off against Arsenal. I don’t think anyone really could’ve predicted Unai Emery starting quite this well after taking over from Arsene Wenger, but he’s done an absolutely magnificent job and a win at the Amex will keep the Gunners well on the tails of the big boys above them.
And to cap it all off it’s, on paper, the best game of the day as Watford host Chelsea again on Sky. Watford are another like Wolves who started the season in imperious fashion but have dropped off, though a win over title challengers Chelsea would do them a world of good as they head into this congested period.
And if you’re not spent by then, you’ve still got Match of the Day to look forward to after that! And probably Die Hard too on one of the other channels.
Anyway, the bookmakers offering the best Boxing Day football betting odds are below!
Enjoy!
