Can you remember that tweet David Cameron sent out just over three years ago? You may have seen it flying around the place recently, it read:
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice – stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband”.
Yeah, ermmm, about that.
Theresa May as PM perhaps went one better before the last general election when she said:
“Every vote for me is a vote for a stronger economy with the benefits felt by everyone across the country. And every vote for him is a vote for a coalition of chaos.”
Chaos was the word used by both Prime Minister’s and looking back now, they couldn’t have used a more apt noun, because it’s exactly what engulfs the Tory party right now. Chaos.
Whether you’re a Tory or a Labourite, a UKIPper or a Lib Dem, it’s hard to argue otherwise.
Going back to 2015, the idea of having a referendum on the UK’s EU membership was something that Cameron allowed just so he could strengthen his and the Conservative’s hold of power.
Never for one minute did he actually think he’d lose. But not only did Remain lose. So did he. And so very well could the Conservatives.
The proposed Brexit deal Theresa May brought back from Brussels on the 14th November pretty much blew the lid off the already-bubbling Brexiteers in the Tory party.
The next morning alone brought 7 resignations. A letter of no confidence to the chair of the 1922 committee followed, posted by the man who thinks that it’s still 1922, Jacob Rees-Mogg.
To be fair to May, though, you don’t know if the deal she brought back is actually shit or her party colleagues just hate her guts.
Pretty much every move she’s made throughout these negotiations have brought scorn and ridicule from the familiar faces on the Tory back and front benches, and they’ve been so vocal they’ve pretty much drowned out all Labour opposition in the media.
And because of all this, we’ve created this page.
May’s now on her way, and therefore the next Prime Minister markets are absolutely popping.
So where can you find the best Next Prime Minister odds?
