The bookmakers offering the best Oscars betting odds

It’s almost upon us once more, it’s time for the most recognisable and most prestigious film industry award show on the planet. It’s time, again, for the Oscars.

As with every year, the Oscars betting odds are really tight for every category. Of course, there will be favourites, but because the judging system is so discreet, private and numerous, bookmakers never have a true indication beforehand for who might win.

But, with a little bit of skill, you can have a pretty good guess, as the 6,000 or so voters that come back to have their say are largely the same as the year before, and therefore you can uncover certain voting patterns and themes which excite the panel.

Since 2010, the winners for Best Picture have been: The King’s Speech, The Artist, Argo, 12 Years A Slave, Birdman, Spotlight, Moonlight, and the Shape of Water, while the Best Director winners have largely, though not always, mirrored the best picture winner: The King’s Speech, The Artist, Birdman, and the Shape of Water all claimed the double.

The Best Actor and the Best Actress winners have been much more sporadic. In the male section, only Colin Firth for the King’s Speech and Jean Dujardin for The Artist won an Oscar in a film which won Best Picture, and in the female section, no actress from a Best Picture winner took home an Oscar. This means when you’re looking at the Oscars betting odds, you should probably go a bit more left-field in these two categories, and maybe stay away from the Best Picture favourites – it’s not often they take home all the gongs!

So anyway, who have been nominated for the 2019 Oscars / the 91st Academy Awards? Well these lot here:
