The bookmakers offering The Voice betting odds

I wonder whether the ITV producers believe in reincarnation. I imagine some of them must, and that’s probably why pretty much as soon as X Factor has ended, they’ve scheduled The Voice to start straight away.

And yes, I know they’re not the same thing. One’s a talent show featuring four judges where aspiring artists and groups audition to win the hearts of a nation and win themselves a record deal, and the other is a talent show featuring four judges where… Hold on a second. They are the same thing!

And why have ITV taken this off BBC? Surely it’s a bit greedy to have two singing shows and leave BBC with none. Plus Dancing on Ice is on ITV, and Britain’s Got Talent is on later this year. Poor BBC, eh.

Maybe the ITV bosses saw the X Factor rankings tanking and they went all in on The Voice to save their bacon? Maybe they’re looking to ditch X Factor in the next couple of years and concentrate all their efforts on The Voice?

It’s not worked so far, though. Ratings have dropped by over a million since The Voice made the switch from ITV to BBC and it’s already dropped back below X Factor. When are ITV going to admit that people just prefer watching stuff on BBC?

Get over yourself, ITV. Give it up. Stop stealing stuff. You’re not going to be better than them. It’s like ITV is a guy who keeps buying new shit to impress a girl he likes, but the girl keeps ignoring him and gets with his mates instead. It’s kind of like that. A little bit, at least.

Though, to be honest, the format on ITV’s The Voice is very much the same as it was on the BBC:

Seven blind auditions to begin with (this is where it differs from X Factor, to be fair), two battle rounds (and this), two knockouts, then two live shows. Lovely stuff.

And who’s offering The Voice betting odds?
