Wimbledon Saturday Preview + 13/2 Treble
July 5, 2019
There is something special about the first Saturday at Wimbledon.
Many of the storylines are still left unwritten and were just about the hit crunch time as the big names take things up a notch as we head towards the second week.
As the old saying goes in sport, ‘you can’t win Wimbledon in the first week, but you can certainly lose it’.
Now isn’t about playing your vintage best, it’s about knuckling down and getting the job done.
With that in mind, we’ve picked out a tasty treble in the Wimbledon betting odds to enjoy alongside the Saturday matches at SW19.
Rafa Nadal to win 3-0 @ 23/20 with 888Sport
I’ll be backing Rafael Nadal to beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets at their meeting tomorrow. Nadal looks ready to slam through another victory after an epic battle against Australian Nick Kyrgios, when he took him to four sets.
Fresh from his French Open triumph, Nadal is EVS to thrash Tsonga in straight sets. In their total of twelve meetings on the court, Nadal has won eight of them. Although Tsonga won the only game they have played together on grass at Queen’s Club, so Nadal will want to set the record straight and claim victory.
In Tsonga’s last game, his opponent Bernard Tomic showed absolutely no effort, so it’s no wonder Tsonga won. It will be much tougher competition against Nadal, though, and I we’ve no doubt that the Spanish superstar will win without too many problems.
Sam Querrey to win 3-0 @ 13/10 with Unibet
American Sam Querrey has often saved some of his best tennis for Wimbledon, and this may well be another vintage year for the man who resides in Las Vegas.
The 31-year-old knocked out 5th seed Dominic Thiem in the first round, before easing past Russia’s Andrey Rublev 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 in the second round on Thursday.
It could be a similar story this weekend as Querrey faces Australia’s John Millman, a man who Querrey who beaten in both of their two meetings, dropping just one set.
Querry also reached the final on grass at Eastbourne earlier this year, and it was only 2017 that he was narrowly beaten in the semi-final at Wimbledon by Marin Cilic.
A straight sets victory looks likely, and represents plenty of value at 13/10.
Roger Federer to win 3-0 @ 8/13 with 888Sport
While Wimbledon’s Women have seen a crop of exciting new talent dominate the headlines, the men’s side of things sees some familiar faces high in the running.
The likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are already being tipped for success this year, but veteran of the game Roger Federer is another who will be hoping to take home the trophy.
The Swiss legend has decades worth of domination under his belt and is near unplayable when at his best.
He faces Lucas Pouille, ranked 26th in the world, in the next round who he should overcome comfortably. He easily disposed of Jay Clarke in the last round and will be hungry for yet another Grand Slam at his beloved SW19.
